Paxil And Alcohol Causes Panic Attacks?

Written by admin on July 11th, 2009

Well, its 6:17 am and I fear going to sleep because I have this feeling I’m going to die( I know its related to panic disorder ). I drank about 4oz. of Rum a bud light and a 8 oz. cosmo mix drink. Shortly after I was feeling fine and had a good buzz going but as the night progressed, a panic arrack hit. I have only been back on my paxil 3 days. Disregarding the critiscm I deserve for knowing I should not mix the two, should I worry about dying in my sleep or am I being irrational?

No, you’re not going to die in your sleep from your panic attack… or the mixing of Paxil and some booze…but, as you know yourself, don’t be stupid and mix those the next time. Alcohol only exacerbates your panic attack (as does weed). When a panick attack hits, your Adrenalin also kicks in, and that’s what pretty much saves you….breathing into paper bags because you feel you need to control your breathing is actually the worse thing you can do. You must slow your own breathing down and breath in through your nose, and blow out through your mouth. I have practiced this methods many times during my own panic attacks, and have lessened the severity of them drastically. It really is mind over matter in some attacks….but not all.

If you have a question about this, you might want to call Poisen Control (open 24/7) or your pharmacist as soon as they open.
