Depression Can Be A Leading Cause OF Panic Attacks

Written by Geoff on February 24th, 2010

In addition to a panic sufferer’s depression there are a number of other factors or stressors that can lead to a panic attack.

[Luckily there are several panic attack solutions that have been known to work for quite a few panic attack sufferers.|Fortunately there are several widely accepted panic attack solutions that have been know to work to help mitigate or eliminate panic attacks altogether.] [Many of these panic attack remedies can be accomplished without medication and right from a person's home.| Several of the most effective panic attack cures can be accomplised by the sufferer themselves.][Having a strong mindset and a willingness to prevent futue anxiety attacks (i.e.  a person's mental state) goes a long way towards how successful any of these techniques mentioned below will be.]

One of the first techniques for managing panic attacks is controlled breathing. [Using a forced breathing method can help stop a panic attack before it starts.| Executing a contolled breathing technique can help stop a panic attack before it starts.] [With this technique, the person should focus on inhaling deeply as soon as they feel a panic attack coming on. | Using this method, a person should focus on breathing, or inhaling, deeply as soon as they feel a panic attack coming on.] [As the person inhales, she should focus on keeping her eyes closed and counting slowly while inhaling.|While inhaling, keep your eyes closed and count slowly, "in, one, two, three..."]

[Hold your breath for a few seconds and then exhale slowly while counting in reverse, "four, three, two, one..."| Try to holdy our breath after you inhale and then release your breath slowly while counting "out, two, three, four...".] Do this releatedly while keeping your eyes closed and doing everything possible to block out negative thoughts or any thoughts from your mind. Keeping your eyes shut will help eliminate visual cures that could trigger negative thoughts or activate stressors. Keeping such things out of sight is essential to the effectiveness of these techniques.

Using controlled breathing techniques can be very effective for stopping panic attacks, but this doesn’t prevent the primary cause of the attack, which is most often depression.  For severe depression, it is always best to consult a mental health professional. Learning how to cure panic attacks is definitely possible and is something that anyone can do with the right mindset and a strong will to start living anxiety free. [As always, consult your doctor if your depression or panic attacks continue.| As always, consult your mental health professional if your anxiety attacks continue.]
